Founded in 1933, the Foodservice Packaging Institute (FPI) is the leading authority for the North American foodservice packaging industry.

FPI encourages the responsible use of all foodservice packaging through promotion of its benefits and members’ products. Serving as the voice of the industry to educate and influence stakeholders, FPI provides a legal forum to address the challenges and opportunities facing the foodservice packaging industry.

FPI’s core members are foodservice packaging manufacturers and their raw material and machinery suppliers. FPI’s membership includes approximately 90 percent of the entire industry in North America.  Please click here for membership information.

Natha Dempsey is president of the Foodservice Packaging Institute, the trade association for the North American foodservice packaging industry. At FPI, she advocates for the interests of the industry and champions its efforts to expand recycling and composting of foodservice packaging. In her previous position at FPI, Dempsey served as vice president. Prior to joining the association in 2010, she held various positions at SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association (now called Plastics Industry Association).

Ashley Elzinga is director of sustainability and outreach for the Foodservice Packaging Institute, the trade association for the North American foodservice packaging industry. At FPI, her work primarily focuses around communications, outreach and FPI’s recovery efforts. Prior to joining the association, she worked in the sustainability and environmental fields.

Jennifer Goldman is a Certified Meeting Professional with over 20 years of experience in various industries including association, engineering, consulting and office products headquarters. At the Foodservice Packaging Institute, Jennifer organizes the bi-annual association conferences and handles many other functions, including social media and accounting.

Carol Patterson

Vice President, Government Relations

Carol Patterson is the vice president of government relations for the Foodservice Packaging Institute, the trade association for the North American foodservice packaging industry. At FPI, she works on all government relations for the association at the federal, state, provincial and local levels. Prior to joining FPI, Patterson was the interim national vice president of government relations for Restaurants Canada and headed various sustainability and government affairs departments. She has been on the board of directors for the Coffee Association of Canada and The Recycling Council of Ontario.
